Project Objectives
The objective is to provide senior advisor support to the International Sava River Basin Commission in preparation and implementation of the Project “Enhancement of the existing Sava GIS and HIS systems”.
Project Details
- Provide support to the procurement process for the enhancement of the existing Sava GIS and HIS system, including the preparation and finalization of the Terms of Reference, evaluating technical proposals, among others.
- Provide expert advice to the ISRBC Secretariat in supervising the development of the Sava GIS and HIS:
- Provide highly specialized technical advice through the entire process of the Enhancement of Sava GIS and HIS systems design and identification of technology requirements, including the state-of-the art GIS solutions.
- Review of the interim and final project outputs, ensuring compliance with the contracted technical specifications and best practices, and advising the ISRBC Secretariat about improvements, along with recommendations to ensure alignment of the systems with the best global GIS practices and with the requirements of EU environmental/water policy.
- Provide expert advice to ensure the system is fully functional, including the testing phase and hand-over of the system to avoid software bugs or failures and to ensure data integrity, privacy, and security, especially with the incorporation of more complex and interconnected systems.
- Participation in meetings, as required by the ISRBC Secretariat.

Project Objectives
The long-term objective, or vision regarding floods is to achieve a situation where no risk or threat to the population and economy is posed due to flooding in Kosovo.
The project’s main objective is to reduce and manage the risks posed by floods to human health, the environment, cultural heritage, and economic activity considering integrated water management principles and protection against harmful effects of waters.

Project Objectives
The overall objective of this assignment is to further develop the Water Information System (WIS) in Kosovo in a highly participatory fashion, i.e., through direct involvement of its users from institutions.
Specific elements for further developing the system will include: (i) fully operationalizing the WIS and making it user-friendly and broadly accessible: (ii) updating the system with recently collected and produced data from different donor-projects; (iii) establishing a coordination mechanism between key stakeholders on data exchange; and (iv) introducing a quality assurance policies and data quality and governance mechanism.

Project Objectives
The overall objective of the assignment is to support the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning in the efforts to reduce and manage the risks posed by floods to human health, environment, cultural heritage and economic activity in the selected river basins.

- Conduct a survey with questionnaires to investigate the (i) technical questions about GIS and projection systems, existing flood maps (coverage, scale, creation data and availability, methodology, hydrological and hydraulic aspects, as well as main threats taken into account for floodplains), (ii) flood risk management options, and (iii) public and stakeholders’ involvement in flood risk management in international river basins.
- Facilitate the involvement of all relevant stakeholders in the assessment process through an agreed stakeholder involvement strategy, which will be a living document for all the steps for the implementation of the EU Floods Directive.

Project Objectives
The overall objective is to contribute to harmonization with the European Flood Directive in Serbia. This objective is in line with Serbian Government’s European Integration Strategy.
The long-term objective is to facilitate poverty alleviation and enhance economic development through the reduction of flood damages.
The specific objectives are to enable the Government of Serbia, and particularly the Serbian water sector institutions to generate actionable flood risk information and strengthen flood risk assessment methodologies.

Project Objectives
The main purpose of the project is preparation of the Flood Risk Management Plan for the Sava River Basin, aiming, inter alia, to:
- Set up common objectives of managing the flood risk at the SRB level based on long-term sustainable approaches.
- Ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to flood risk management in the basin.
The project provides support and technical assistance to the International Sava River Basin Commission and Riparian beneficiary countries in flood risk management in the Sava River Basin and improve the quality and effectiveness of joint flood and drought management through the preparation of the joint Sava Flood Risk Management Plan.
Results
- Sava FRMP, including Summary of Measures with all its related components and accompanying documents (in accordance with the Program), prepared.
- FRMP established in close coordination with the ISRBC, its Secretariat, and Permanent Expert Group for Flood Protection as the leading body inside the Commission for preparation of the Sava FRMP.

- Prepare an Environmental Impact Analysis for the “Summary of Measures” that should ensure ecological foundations for the identification of special environmental protection requirements. Specifically, a said study shall define the type and level of measures’ impact on the environment, as well as optimum mitigation measures aimed at reducing or eliminating harmful impacts for the measures from the Catalogue of Measures.
- Define the mechanisms of coordination on the basin-wide level.
- Elaborate a Proposal of Modes of cooperation of the Sava countries in the flood defense emergency situations, including the arrangements in the basin for forecasting.
- Design FRMP database and software module for Sava GIS to integrate the results of the Sava Flood Risk Management Plan into Sava GIS (in accordance with the EU Flood Directives, reporting, data exchange, standards, guidance, and following instructions of EEA, EIONET, and WISE).
